The Head of Product is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a profitable portfolio of propositions for both individual and group segments. This will include a clear and well-articulated product and service portfolio, across a broad price spectrum, striking the optimal balance between having the smallest portfolio of offers possible (to reduce cost and complexity) and maximizing Bupa Hong Kong’s coverage of customer needs and capture of available profit pools.
The role is also accountable for renewal and innovation as required to drive category and Bupa’s profitable growth, to include joint propositions development with our Quality Healthcare clinics business in Hong Kong to increase utilization of our provision assets and improve overall revenue and margin. These will be well targeted based on clear, sized and prioritized customer segments for the Hong Kong market, also taking into account the growing demand from Mainland Chinese coming to Hong Kong for healthcare provision.
The role holder will also be responsible for the creation of a well-resourced and balanced innovation pipeline, which appropriately balances innovation across existing product and service extensions, new products and services and new disruptive business models in order to achieve profitable growth of our Hong Kong based businesses in the medium term. Such innovations will include an integrated care solution covering funding, clinical provision, and healthcare services such as micro-insurance, chronic disease management and wellbeing and prevention.
Design potential propositions and the associated economics in a rigorous way, clearly articulating the target customers, USPs, pricing, product, service, distribution elements and fully articulating the end to end customer experience of the proposition and the implications for its delivery across functions
Manage new propositions development through a robustly governed process with appropriate stage gates e.g.Comply with and take into account any requirements from the HK funding and provision regulators and/or any applicable local regulatory requirements
Clear customer and competitor insights embedded in the process to ensure we are identifying the right profit pools and customer needs to serve
Creative ideation through multiple sources to ensure great ideas from across the business are captured
Structured templates and processes adopted to ensure the right level of rigour and analysis in innovation business cases, and to ensure that we are fully assessing and designing the customer experience in development
A test and learn lab to sustain and expand innovation to ensure that ideas are tested with customers as early as possible in the development process
Initiatives appropriately addressing customer pain points post launch and optimising the customer experience across multiple channel touch point
Manage product portfolio
Work with Bupa HK and QHMS marketing leads to implement proposition development approach and provide project management support where required to ensure joint products are delivered
Comply with and take into account any requirements from the HK funding and provision regulators and/or any applicable local regulatory requirements
Qualifications, Training and Experience
Educated to degree level, and/or recognized marketing qualification or equivalent.
Business experience which should include product and proposition marketing experience in a highly regulated market launching significant healthcare propositions that have generated multi million HKD profits; Specific experience in healthcare, or access will be highly advantageous
Additionally, the jobholder should possess:

solid analytical and numerical skills;
In depth understanding and knowledge of Bupa’s funding and provision products.
The ability to simultaneously champion customer needs and maximise commercial opportunity.

Able to speak and write in Chinese and English
